Help Us Reopen Our Clubs

Essential. We are hearing this word a lot lately –essential workers, needs, services. Something that is essential is considered absolutely necessary or extremely important.
By that definition, Boys & Girls Clubs of Coachella Valley is essential. To Adrian who waits to connect with his favorite staff and club friends at our Virtual Clubhouse. To Lily whose family we deliver food offering extra nutritional support. Also to Joshua whose parents both work on the frontlines and needs a positive place while they are saving lives.
We are essential to them and YOU are essential to us!
As the community slowly reopens and recovers, we too, are methodically reopening our Clubs. Because safety of our Club members, their families, our staff and volunteers is our top priority, we are taking extraordinary steps to boost health and safety measures. We are following the guidance of public health experts including protocols developed by Boys & Girls Clubs of America and our staff has received intense re-training. Meeting these unforeseen expenses for touchless hand sanitizers, hydration stations, PPE and special cleaning agents comes at a time when support has been impacted by the pandemic. The additional safety and training costs, loss of revenue from membership plus increased subsidies for families unable to pay, will cost each Club an estimated additional $30,000.
With four Clubs reopening, we needed to raise $120,000.
I say needed because avid supporters Pete Hammond and Margo Ritter donated $40,000. NOW we need your help to raise $80,000!

The Story of Jose
The John Carroll and Jim O’Brien Clubhouse in Indio opened its doors to the community in 1966. Today, that one small clubhouse has grown into an organization comprised of a network of four full-service clubhouses, two boxing/athletic centers, and the Smilow Family Teen Center in Indio.
We strive to give our club members and our communities a better and brighter future. We meet kids and teens where they are and help them to take steps forward to reach their potential. By focusing on safety, academic support and character development.
